I wish to begin with.. I love Adobe Fireworks CS5.
I purchased the software a long time ago (2011) and its worked wonderfully ever since but then one day in 2022 up popped a CS5 Internal Error. Nothing I tried would start the program. I was mortified! I Googled the error and found lots of so-called fixes, even some fixes by Adobe but then I found this..
HOW TO FIX: Adobe Fireworks CS5 Internal Error
- Close Fireworks CS5 (Ctrl + Alt + Delete – Task Manager – Adobe Fireworks End Task)
- Locate a folder named: Fireworks CS5 and rename it (Fireworks CS5-bak)
- Restart Fireworks CS5
Every system will have a different path. Mine (Windows 10) C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
The folder (Fireworks CS5) appears to be a temp folder storing history and settings that become corrupted. When Fireworks CS5 is restarted, it creates a new Fireworks CS5 folder.
COMMENT
I do want to comment about Adobe. They make some damn good software but in my opinion, do a poor job of supporting old software.
Yes, everyone knows Fireworks CS5 is no longer supported by Adobe. Adobe wants everyone to migrate to it’s new platform Creative Cloud.
Fireworks CS5 works brilliantly for me. I purchased it outright for LIFE. As long as it continues to work, it is my right to use it.
I don’t want Adobe to support it but I think it’s fair to expect to be able to download the last full version* so I can move it to a new computer with my original license number. If it works on the new pc, happy days, if it doesn’t then doh, my bad.
I still run (2024) an old PC just so that I can continue to use Fireworks CS5. I’d simply like to be able to reinstall it on one of my new PC’s. I certainly do not want to read comments by Adobe support staff (Nancy O’Shea, Adobe Product User & Community Professional) saying: “That said, Fireworks ended in 2012 and is unsupported. Use it at your own risk..”
Adobe was quite happy to take my money for a lifetime product, now do the right thing and make that product available for life. Don’t “support” it, just make it available (as is) to lifetime owners.
Being honest.. I considered Adobe Creative Cloud but, because of it’s attitude to “support” chose not to!

*Has anyone got a full copy of Fireworks CS5?
I’d love a copy if you have one. Shoot me an email?
Final comment..
Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner
If above does not work, then try Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner tool. I’ve not used it but Adobe reports it can fix many common problems.
