Alright, I know I bang on about how much we love WordPress but this handy little feature has saved my ass many times, like today.
Yesterday, I spent quite some time working on a page, we’re talking hours here. Just as I was about to UPDATE, kaboom, the power went and my PC powered down.
After the power returned, I rebooted only to find I had lost all my work…
BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.. <– crying!
SAVED BY WORDPRESS
Revisions & AutoSave
Scrolling down beneath the content editor window of a published* (saved) page/post is a feature called: REVISIONS
If it is not showing, see a tab at the top right side of the editor window for Screen Options and tick the box for Revisions and it will magically appear.
Revisions shows all AUTOSAVE and saved versions of the page/post. Click on any one of the saved versions to view the saved version and a Restore This Version button, or Return to editor.
So, if you have lost your work, misplaced your work, not saved your work, can’t find your work in WordPress, you now know what to do.
*Option is not available for draft/un-published page/posts… sorry, you’ve lost your work if there is nothing in REVISIONS.
